Philippians 4:11-13:
11 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
What this passage really boils down to for me, is trust. Am I trusting in God for His provisions, however that may look? I too, like the writer have been in situations of need and of plenty. I know and understand both ends of the spectrum, but am I will to look past those and look to the One who provides? We need to place our trust and faith in Him and not in what we have or don’t have. The things of this world will pass away. There will even be a time, at death, when we won’t need sustenance anymore, so even that is material. Verse 13 is really where the heart of this message of trust lies. If we trust in the Lord, then He will give us the strength to do/overcome anything. Are you will to cling to that trust in Him today? Jehovah-Jireh is the Lord who provides!
